When your child is unwell, you'll want to do everything you can to make them better again. As well as choosing the right treatment, there are plenty of other ways you can make them more comfortable.
Reducing a high temperature
If your little one has a fever, one of the best ways to help is to cool them down. Remove a layer of clothing or let an older child lie naked under a sheet and make sure they have plenty of drinks to stop them becoming dehydrated. You can also use a fever reducing medicine, such as Pamol Infant drops or Pamol for All Ages.
Soothing an earache
Wrap a hot water bottle in a towel and let your child rest their head against it. Use a heated soft cloth for a baby instead.
Comforting a colicky baby
Rhythmic rocking or a slow drive in the car can help, or you could try a gentle massage on their back or tummy. Help them burp up any excess wind with a few pats on the back to make sure that's not adding to the problem. Above all, try to stay calm and remember that the crying will stop eventually.
Tackling teething troubles
Chewing on a teething ring or carrot stick can help ease the pain of a new tooth coming through. A gentle rub with your little finger can be just as effective.
Giving your child their medicine
Each Pamol pack includes information about the recommended dosage. If you're ever unsure about giving your child any medicine, contact your healthcare professional for more advice.
Calling the Doctor
If you call your surgery for advice, you'll need to be able to tell them about your child's symptoms. It's a good idea to write them down to make sure you remember everything. Try to include information about your child's temperature, physical changes, unusual behaviour and tell them about any treatment you have already given.
Hopefully your little one will be back to normal in no time!
